Kira Aleksandrova - Biography

Kira Aleksandrova

Watercolour artist

I am a painter based in Diamond Harbour, New Zealand.

Originally from Russia, I studied art and design before relocating to the South Island.
The shift in landscape — from dense urban environments to open coastal terrain — gradually reshaped my visual language and subject matter.

I work primarily in watercolour and have also developed a body of work in acrylic.

Over the past years I have exhibited locally and nationally, including solo exhibitions at Stoddart Cottage (2022, 2024) and participation in Watercolour New Zealand national exhibitions.
In 2025 I was awarded the Patron’s Prize at the Watercolour New Zealand “Splash” 50th Anniversary Exhibition, and in 2021 received the People’s Choice Award in the Gordon Harris Winter Online Watercolour Competition.

My paintings are regularly represented at The Captain’s Quarter, Akaroa.

I am a member of Watercolour New Zealand and Arts Canterbury, and my work is held in private collections in New Zealand and internationally.
