Exploring light, stillness and spatial clarity.

Painting, for me, is a way of organising attention.

I am drawn to places that appear simple at first glance —
a stretch of water, a quiet slope, a small group of flowers.
I return to them slowly, testing how little is needed for the image to hold.

My approach is deliberate rather than expressive.
I prefer reduction to accumulation, structure to excess.

I am interested in images that remain present without insisting —
that hold space quietly, without narrative.

This site presents selected works from an ongoing studio practice,
together with notes from the studio.

I work from my studio near the coast of Banks Peninsula, where light is rarely the same twice.
